things for later,
disinterested at the moment,
the nail
half driven,
the wood
uncut,
the meal half cooked.
bread
not in the oven,
still a ball
of dough on the counter.
we leave
the clothes in the dryer,
we ignore
the burned-out bulbs,
the smoke
alarm
blinking.
we delay
our intentions, because
deep down
inside,
sometimes we're just
lazy
and tired of repetition.
