it was
an easy sleep, no
tossing and turning,
no rough water whatsoever,
no nightmares
to speak
of.
an easy sleep, so it surprised
me
when i woke
up and my
shoulder hurt.
i felt as if i'd been tackled
by a lineman
in a football game.
my knee too
was sore, as if twisted.
i sat up in bed and tried
to stretch it
all out, then stumbled
towards the shower.
cold water
should heal me, right?
then coffee.
