the mirror before i leave the house,
trying
to determine if
what i'm wearing
is too political,
sending a message to the left
or right.
no red hat today,
no mask,
no burka,
no flag decals or
sandals.
no tin foil hat,
or messages on my
sweatshirt.
i'm vanilla from top
to bottom.
i'm a scoop of ice-cream
with legs.
safe
for a trip to Whole Foods.
