or woman's car and you will
quickly see
who they are and how
they live.
there's clothes and shoes,
wire hangers
that opened the doors
when the keys
were locked within.
there's that hamburger wrapper
perpetually floating
in the back seat,
the empty beer
cans,
the half-eaten donuts
crushed on the floor.
the smell of fish
of some sort coming
from the trunk or glove
compartment.
an open can of Vienna
sausages, perhaps,
or tuna in tin foil.
but what saves the day,
is the little scented
Christmas tree swinging
from the rear-view mirror.
