in the parking
lot beside a Subaru.
it's a long list
in child like block letter
writing.
i look around to see
if anyone might be nearby,
just now walking to the store,
looking in their pockets
for the grocery
list they wrote out.
i read it to myself.
granola,
soy milk, plant based
burgers,
salmon patties
and vegan
spaghetti.
magic markers,
and large placards to
be used as signs i imagine.
hummus and cottage
cheese,
free range organic eggs,
the New Yorker
and the Atlantic Magazine.
and then i see
who it might be going
through the front door
of the A & P.
she's pushing a stroller
with a girlfriend.
a little Asian kid is waving
from his seat.
it has to be her, middle aged
and white.
a streak of blue hair,
and a tattoo on her shoulder
of Hillary Clinton
and Joan of Arc.
i rush over and give her the list,
but then have to dodge
a punch,
and jump out of the way
to not be kicked.
