she tells me,
after a twenty
year span
of knowing one another.
forever and ever will our
relationship
go on.
she gives me a kiss
on the cheek,
and wraps her arms
around me
in a bear hug.
our hearts and minds are
one.
nothing and no one
will ever break
this bond,
but then
suddenly, it's over,
after i tell
her which side i voted
on.
