the very long way around

i see

where the newly awarded

Nobel Prize

recipient

has excepted her award

and is being

overwhelmed

with accolades.

apparently, she was cleaning

her kitchen,

scrubbing

the sink and

mopping the floor

when she got the news.

i've never heard of her.

so i look

her up

and begin to read some

of her work.

ten minutes later

i'm scratching my head

and saying what the hell,

thoroughly bored.

she does take the long way

around

to say things

that are true.

then i come here to write

about it.

i'll clean my kitchen later,

maybe tomorrow,

with or without an award.
