you think, as
you turn to the news.
Paris is burning.
not even two world wars
could destroy
this city,
and yet now,
it may happen.
the streets are in chaos,
stores
and businesses looted.
has the country
folded,
surrendered
once more to an
aggressive outside
force?
will the Eiffel Tower
tumble,
will The Louvre
go down
in flames?
is this how it all ends?
