that lately i don't
put the broom
away
until company comes over.
there it
is in the corner
with the dustpan
awaiting dirt.
the same
goes for the dishes
in the sink,
the clothes on the floor,
shoes on the steps.
the vacuum cleaner
i step over
nearly every day.
why put the butter away now?
apparently
i worry less
about appearances
when alone.
