Tennessee
Williams play,
she stands in the doorway,
and says dramatically,
i'm never coming
back,
so don't wait up.
this last straw has broken
the camel's back.
i lower the newspaper
to see what all
the racket is about.
she's holding her little poodle
in her arms.
two Louie Vuitton suitcases
are at her feet.
what?
i ask, what is it this time?
if you don't know,
i'm not going to tell you.
and remember,
tomorrow is trash day.
then she leaves
giving the door a declaration
of war
slam.
but she'll be back,
her car keys are on the table.
