perpetually late
those
that arrive late, are late
for a reason.
you're part of it,
but not
in a good way.
they're telling you something
without
saying it.
it's all in the game
they play.

(133)
the wobbly rear view mirror
perpetually late
the existential waffle iron
the moonlit bay
but i told you this an hour ago
i remember talking
a minor clerical error
the red scarf
if the world were to end tomorrow
kind compliments that you don't forget
discovering loneliness
she knew your name
the ten act play off broadway
let them eat cake
she didn't need no stinking gym
is Paris burning, yes
the cereal box before you
it's the little things
genetics, fate, luck, destiny
looking for Marge
finding a tree to lie under
what will they think of me
not seen and not heard
landing on our feet
I'll wait until you're gone
the warm sink water
how dare you look at me in my low cut tight red dress
somewhere before dark
ham biscuits
avoiding adult conversations
the inheritance
at each rattled stop
none of this will last
the cat is out of the bag
leave me to my ways
everything has been said
one third cup of brown sugar
the cold wet line
crossing the line
keeping beat
the la dee da years
my last American car
the upside down pyramid
a moment of bliss
solving problems with Mildred
chasing ambulances
news flash, we are men
mistakes were made
front porch ice tea
life was not that hard
pumpkin time
sweet play dough
this is all fiction
the long road as two, or one
childhood friends
how hard their lives must be
your good side
my algorithm
the old love letter
filling the hours
while visiting the left coast
that's how i ended up here
milkman and paper boy hours
devils and angels
Harold is a good man
dying affection
i had to open my big mouth
creating a more manly image
got out just in time
old spice and gin
swords are drawn
i care, i really do, honest to Betsy
back yard bird watching
how did we get here?
today is election day
when the wind shifts
dying with your music still in you
London, Paris and New York
the lives of others
naked on Sunday morning
let's go this way for a while
the white stone
school me my dear, be gentle
can we take another one?
easy riders
saying everything with silence
she's on a diet again
the very long way around
not my first rodeo with brainwashing
a trip to the vet
is this the real me?
Saturday ride to the zoo
all those yellow canaries
street war
the food will arrive soon
forward in the old grey truck
writing love poems
one large pepperoni pizza from Luigi's
the dream house
old frayed clothing
soul mate number one
in the mood to bite people
the welfare state
something she said
today will be the day
we'll get a new one
no more cats, please
a life in one box
see you in six months
the yearly budget
early in the game
i agree with them
one bad Oyster
thinking about love, perhaps
they're holding doors for you now
we have to go now, wake up
the regular visit
no better time to live in
the same towns
the party where no one comes
how quickly twenty years go
slapping mud on it
it's late, too late for this
never too early for the snow globe
going into her fun house
the shiny waxed floor
carnation pink
the neighborhood horror movie
