i wondered

how long i could hold my

breath

underwater.

so i tried

lying on the bottom

of the pool

as everyone

swam above me.

i could see the liquid

light

of the sun.

i could see the

feet and arms kicking,

hear the splashes.

and voices above me,

but not from anyone

i knew.

how long would it take

for them

to know that i was missing,

that i was gone?
