The Burberry Shirt gift

i had no

idea

what a Burberry shirt was,

but i thanked

her for the gift.

it came in a nice

box with

fancy thin paper wrapping.

so special.

she had the right size

and color.

thank you i told her

and hung

it in the closet with the twenty

dollar t-shirts

Khol's.

i had no idea that it cost her

625 dollars

from Bloomingdale's.

i've given all of my boyfriends

and husbands

the same shirt, she said

with a smile.

they all love it.

i rolled my eyes

and tried not to laugh.

of course i never wore it,

and 

eventually added it to

the bonfire

in the backyard after she

thankfully left,

warming my hands over

the beautiful fire.
