once upon a time,
an era on earth,
where one
would read for information,
we'd open up a book
to educate
ourselves. to the local
bookstore
we'd travel,
or the library, with our
library cards
frayed within our wallets.
perhaps
there was an old
set of encyclopedias
in the cellar
inherited
from the old folks
now gone.
we'd painstakingly thumb
through
the thin pages
to find a fact or two
buried in the tiny print,
but now
there's
a woman with a lovely
voice at the end
of the line
who is more
than pleased
to tell us everything we need
to know.
she's available
24 7,
long after the bookstores
and libraries
are closed.
