we too can be a fool

we need

to fail, to fall and stumble

to say the wrong

thing

at the wrong time.

we need

egg on our face,

a coffee stain on our shirt,

a streamer

of toilet

paper on our shoe,

we need spinach

between our

teeth, our zipper down,

we need to be

caught in a lie,

caught in the rain

without an umbrella.

we need to remember

that we too

can be a fool.
