for years,
the Christmas card finally arrives
from my
mother,
who's been gone
for six years now.
it's from the box of five
hundred cards
that she bought years
ago
at j.c. penny's.
a snow scene, with Santa
Claus in his
sleigh
crossing a deep blue
sky
with silvery twinkling
stars around him.
i have ten of them.
each signed
love Mom,
all with the five dollar
bill
still inside.
