day two of a ten day cruise

when she

took a swing at me on the cruise

ship

as the boat

sailed gracefully

down the Aegean Sea,

i ducked

and her fist hit me on

the shoulder.

she was red faced

and crying.

i asked her what's up with

that?

and she said,

you don't know, do you?

i said, no, i don't.

i sat back down and continued

to eat our gourmet

dinner as she stormed

out, going

back to the cabin.

a few hours later, i peeked

in to see her in bed.

what was that all about?

i asked her.

i'm sorry, she said. but i

didn't bring my

meds.

i slept with one eye

open the rest of the voyage

with a butterknife

in my hand.

tomorrow we were going

to be

climbing a volcano.
