barefoot

her heel breaks
on the way
to the show,
so she walks barefoot
in the rain.
unworried about the city
street,
what might unfold.
she strolls through
the glass,
the tossed cigarettes,
debris
without so much a glance
downward.
across
the boulevard,
the grates,
stones, past cats,
around lost souls
asleep
with wine in clumps
at  alleys.
this tells you something
about her
that she never said
before.
