the deep clean

i had the priest
come over

and swing his metal box of incense
all

over the house.
he rang some bells

and said things in latin.
he went room

to room
exorcising the demon that was once
here.

i followed him
around in his white robe
and tall

hat.
he seemed to really know
what he was doing.

i'd suggest you
open the windows, he said
when finished,

and have your maid
scrub
deeper,

using bleach or something
like that.  a pine cone smell

might be nice.
