the phone rings

the phone rings,
i see who it is on caller id,
i reach
for the tylenol.
extra strength.
i grab a bottle of water
and an ice
pack to place
upon my head.
i go into the cool
basement and lie upon
the couch.
hello, i say into
the phone.
what gives? what now?
i put it on speaker,
and listen.
