the book club

we tried to have a book
club
but no one read the books
or were
prepared to discuss
them.
some came late,
or cancelled at the last
minute.
for some it was more
about the food
and the drinks
and talking about their
lives,
catching up
on trips, and children,
love and romance,
who's dead, who's still
alive.
nobody had the time for
run rabbit run, or war
and peace, or bridge on
the river kwai, so
we changed the meet up
to drinks and food,
desserts and coffee
at 9.
