a beautiful Jewish girl
from
New York,
with dark eyes, and black
hair.
her mother sold wedding
dresses
and her father
was a psychiatrist.
they didn't seem to care
that a good Catholic
boy, like me, was
seeing their jewel of a daughter.
you could see it in their
eyes, that they knew
this wouldn't
last.
but it did, two summers,
and a winter,
and i've never
lost my taste for bagels
and lox.
