a fresh pot of coffee

i was a bitter cup of coffee

for quite a while.

not being able 

to get over

some dopey girl,

which wasn't real.

i was old coffee grounds,

a very dark roast,

three days

lying at the bottom

of a cold pot.

i needed to be scraped

out and washed.

sterilized and scrubbed.

but now i'm boiling

again.

brewed clean, 

with fresh beans.

brewed hot.

careful when you sip me.

the spills are hard

to get out.
