happy.
you can bend over backwards
trying,
but they haven't been
happy since the day
they opened their eyes.
but we do try
to give them what they want,
keeping the thermostat
the way they like it,
tending to their dietary
needs. treating them
as if they were king, or queen.
we just want peace,
careful with what we say,
not rolling our eyes at
their strange ways.
