fourth place is still good
i like the almost.
the underdog,
the ones finishing fourth
with no
medal or wreathe,
or flowers.
the seventh
bridesmaid,
the last one picked,
the usher holding the door.
the ones
who almost
made it but didn't.
the runt of the litter,
dropping into obscurity
once more.

yoga is a wonderful thing
usually around the middle of the second year
putting on a happy face
my doctor Claude Rains
one pancake or two?
the back room Holiday Inn interview
why aren't French people fat like us?
you have a point there
getting better all the time
cave paintings on the CVS wall
February 1970
vote for me and get free stuff
hold on
he's making a good point here
the braille room
gluing the pot back together
a day at the beach
when the kremlin interviews Putin
Oh Henry
Strangers in the Night
cinnamon Babka
a failure to communicate
the soft landing
when they don't leave the nest
men helping men
when Halloween comes early
taking her vacuum with her
a tight fit
the inside story
the forever tours
pump your brakes
think happy thoughts
post op surgery visit
the debate before the debate
each to his own fate
ahh, sugar sugar
the plumber from Newark
Dear Officer Krupke
the existential sigh
we had sticks, we had rocks
the trophy wife
how much is bread?
and then it begins to rain
maybe Saturday
flexing his muscles
Lilly in the morning
in search of the dream girl
she's due in June
six years later
eat, eat, look at you, you're so skinny
the neighborhood watchers
when we make love
wildfires
the trial of the century
new details on the democratic policies
now i remember why we don't get together
something for you too
the never ending night
California girls
she appears to be alone
we need to update your receiver boxes
when his mother was out of town with Carlos
what else is there to say
what to look forward to
the unhappy other states
we can see each other if we want to
the grand illusion
stopping by the woods
we don't need men
give me the gas
we have a lot of balloons
the farmer's almanac
why even try to make things right
the growing crowd
shedding skins
eight miles high
the coupon through the door
let's keep it that way
the infinitely small clasp
getting back in the game
the paper and coffee
lemmings in Chicago
a different education
norman rockwell upside down cake
the fat juicy peach
lingering in the twilight zone
me and the rabbits
today tonight
a world of strays
the democratic confection
when the narcissists return
it's the wrong number again
finding Blue Stone road
the shade tree
who to call just in case
in and out of the other side
it's good to be loved
don't look out the window, just vote
awakening
the barbershop on Saturday morning
