afloat on the saragossa sea

we like

to complicate our lives.

it's in our nature.

when things are going well,

we think

to ourselves,

pondering,

with finger on our chin,

ala Rodin,

and say things like,

let's get a dog,

or better yet let's have a baby,

or buy a sailboat, or perhaps

maybe a time share

at the shore.

we're in a peaceful place,

a Saragossa Sea of sorts,

a calm

circle of

water where all is well

and we easily

are afloat,

financially and with health.

we don't see

the storms

beyond

the curve of earth,

the dark

clouds over continents

far away.

we smile at each other

and shrug

and say,

why not, okay.
