slaving in the kitchen

she surprised me

jello. i hadn't had jello

since

i was ten years old.

she even

jazzed it up,

by putting fruit cocktail

in it,

then spraying

the top with whipped cream.

i spilled the bag

of burgers and fries onto

the table and announced,

dinner is served,

she smiled, and not

to be outdone,

said

i made dessert.
