lady of the night

i don't want to speak

badly

about a cat, but the cat we

had as kids

was the town

floozy.

beautiful

and grey with soft

green eyes,

and a seductive purr.

she wore a pink collar

and walked

with her tail straight up.

she probably gave birth

to over a hundred

kittens

in her day.

she looked weary at times.

her belly full again,

a frown on her soft

tired face.

a lady of the night.

and the tom cats

loved her.

howling from the alley,

at the windows,

and at the doors

hoping she'd come out

to play.
