the unfixable

you think of people
at times

as fixable.
turn a screw here,
tighten

up a bolt, a belt.
put a new plug in.

change the oil,
wash
and polish.

we think we can put
a new
shine

on them.
pull out the manual
and figure them out.

put air in their tires.
wipe
them down.

fill them up with gas.
but it doesn't

work that way,
you can't fix the unfixable.

be thankful that
they're gone,  gone
at last.
