a turning point in a way,
when
you said
no more,
when you decided to stop
sending
money
to those in need, who
refused
to work and make
their own
way in life.
despite their age and education,
their hand
was always out
for more.
how quickly the calls
dropped
off when
you stopped giving.
no longer did you get
cards
in the mail.
no texts anymore, no visits
to see if
you were
doing well.
it felt almost as if they
didn't care.
