the tax
lady calls to tell me the bad news.

seven thousand dollars
this year
and the State two.
oh well, i tell her.
i guess it's not as bad as last
year.
plus we have to support
all the day care
facilities
in Minnesota,
the autism clinics
that have sprung up,
and there is a war going on.
one single bomb
costs
a billion dollars, or two.
so i'm glad
to do my part.
