was a small period of time
when
i would fish,
taking my young son to the pond
with the tackle
box
and rods and reels,
a box
of blood worms
still alive
in a grass mix.
we were bonding then.
i showed
him
how to cast out into
the blue
water,
and then wait.
patience i think was
the lesson.
a lesson i learned well,
as i stare at the phone wondering
when it might
ring.
