i've

done it.

in the past. like many

of us, being

foolish

and reckless.

i've had a few drinks

and driven

my car home,

buzzed.

slowly though

so as not

be pulled over

and arrested.

but i was lucky. blessed,

perhaps.

but never again.

no more.

it's club soda with a splash

of lime

from here on out.

i shake my head and wonder

what was i thinking

back then.

my life, and

someone else's life

should not

end

because of a third dry

martini,

or tall tonic

and gin.
