deep beneath the snow
and ice,
the hardened
ground
are the earthworms.
laid back
in their
carved out rooms,
watching
television, eating
whatever small
bugs they
saved when
the last sun and rain
came out.
how nice to be able
to hibernate
like that.
all the time in the world
to do nothing
but make love,
to stretch and wiggle
about.
