time for less not more

i feel

the need to downsize,

to live

in a lesser way,

not larger

as i age,

as the limbs ache

from the cold.

do i need four bathrooms,

six bedrooms

a three-car garage

and pool out back

that i haven't been in

for decades?

so much dust

to behold.

so much lawn

to mow.

maybe it's time for the condo

with a veranda,

with a nice man

at the door

to help me with my

packages.

the girl at the desk

saying good morning

as i go

to the elevator 

to the seventeenth

floor.

perhaps it's time

for less,

not more.
