i'm sure
it's much safer
than driving, but just the same
it's unnatural
to be so high
in the air in such a heavy
strange machine.
i grip the seat
or the person next to me
as it rises into the sky
or is about to land.
i've damaged many arms
in flying, crushed many
fingers on many hands.
i've recited many prayers,
so many that people
often mistake me for being
Billy Graham.
