pets, our dogs and cats
and other
various animals
are playing us
like fiddles.
giving us
enough attention so that
we feed them,
walk them,
cuddle with them
in our beds
and protect them.
but as soon as another
person
comes down
the street with a steak
bone,
they're so easily gone.
i've known
so many women in my
life like them.
