they love

their bread,

their pastries and cakes,

but not so

much their politics.

what's a person to do when

they want

so badly a loaf

of apple scrapple bread,

a cinnamon bun,

and a loaf

of rye

to go?

they stand at the steamed glass

window,

rubbing

their gurgling bellies,

sad,

and so torn,

so confused.

it's so hard being a socialist

these days.
