since
i took this way home.
i turn my head
to the left
as i sit at the light
and see
a nine
story building
suddenly up, with tenants
mulling about.
the lights are on.
i'm stunned.
there used to be a few trees there
and a pond
where i'd walk
my dog, where i'd sit
on a bench
and talk on my phone.
now what?
