the old car, bought it new,
right off
the showroom
floor.
i loved the smell of it,
the speed
it could go,
the radio,
the top down.
four on the floor.
i loved
how it gleamed in
the summer
light after i spent
a Saturday
afternoon, washing
and waxing it
for date night.
oh, how i loved that
car,
it held the memories
of those years,
of my life,
which made it so
hard to
leave it on the side
of the road
when it finally died.
