something i said?

i'm always

suspicious when i

hear women say that they have

to go to the bathroom

to powder,

their nose,

then scurrying off

with their

purse and phone,

coat in tow.

sometimes, 

they don't come back.

leaving

me with the check

after a large meal

and three glasses of wine.

there's

nothing left on their plate

but a few measly

shards of kale and

garlic

croutons.

once more i've been

taken 

and left alone.
