i'm busy

i tell the tree, the shrubs,

the weeds.

too busy

to rake

today, to mend the fence,

to tighten

the screws

on the clapboards

that rattle.

i'm too busy,

i say to the wind,

the clouds.

i have things to do,

many things to think about.
