popping the cork on the bubbly

i've had that expensive

bottle

of champagne

on top of the refrigerator for

seven years now.

sometimes i take

it down

and wipe

the grease off the green

glass and hold

it up to the light.

i'm waiting

for the right moment

to celebrate.

waiting for someone

wonderful

to come into my life,

not the person i originally

bought it for.
