easily replaced

i wonder

if my dog loves me

for me,

or is it just because i feed her,

and give

her a place

to sleep.

i brush

her hair, and scratch

her belly when

she rolls over.

am i putting too much

into her tail

wagging when

i get home,

and she greets me at the door,

wanting to lick

my face?

is it really love,

or am i

easily replaced?

i ask my therapist about

this,

and she laughs.

are you talking

about your wife, or your

dog,

she says to me.

both i guess, i tell her,

straight faced.
