of the boat,
at the wheel, white hair,
white mustache
a blue anchor
cap on his head.
the sun has taken its toll
of him but
he presses on,
the sailor that he is.
he steers the modest
boat
out of the harbor as
he sips on his tonic
and gin.
the sun is rising again.
he has all day
to think about her,
the other woman, the one
that got away.
