your shoes beneath my bed

we need
a place to call home.
whether
it's a cave,
or a room in a run
down
shack by the side of
the road.
we need a place to lie
down in,
a place that keeps
us warm,
keeps the rain out.
brick or board,
it doesn't matter much.
just a bed
to put your shoes beneath,
a fire burning,
a loved one close.
we need a place
to call home.
