the three tiered cake

i'm not good with weddings.

i've never been to one,

my own or others that lasted

very long.

i look into the eyes of the groom

and bride and wonder,

what will go  wrong.

who's going to lie and cheat first.

but i'm not against the nuptials,

not

one bit,

i believe in love,

exclusivity.  finding the one

and only,

but from what i see

it ain't happening these days,

especially with the temptation

of the internet.

the addiction to cell phones,

what not.

the grass is always greener

has never been more

true than it is now.

but i do enjoy the music, the party,

getting all dressed up,

dancing with grandma to Proud Mary,

the fun of it all and the promise

of hope

and love everlasting.

we need our fantasies,

but what i love most about weddings.

is the fresh baked,

iced thick,

three tiered cake.
