cat and mouse

when she tapped my phone,

I laughed.
when she had me followed,

I waved to those following
and
they waved back.

when she looked under the rug
for money,

peeked into every drawer
when i wasn't there,

I left a note,
reading not here honey.

it was a cat and mouse
game for over a year.

she thought she was the cat,
but I was

way ahead of her, by a thousand
light years.

in the end, she put the ring
up for sale,

the house, the toys, the things
we accumulated.

none of it mattered anymore,
it wasn't love to begin
with,

what
was important

was that I was now
far far away from
her.
