her sister
dies in Michigan. so she goes
up
to see it through.
grieve with the family.
sit in her room.
touch her things. look out
the window
where they both
once stood
when little girls.
there are no answers.
no words that can ease the pain.
you nod.
you hug, you say you're there
for them.
and go back to your own
life.
heavier from it all, but knowing
that in time
we all will eventually
disappear into that
mysterious fog.
