hanging over the door of the restaurant
says
under new management.
grand opening.
so i go in.
but
nothing has changed.
Joe is still working
the bar
and Candy is waiting on
tables
in her leather
pants and low-cut merino
wool sweater.
i see Frank
through the little square
window
scraping the grill.
i ask Candy,
as i sit down
to peruse the menu,
what's new,
what's changed?
she points at the menu
and says,
we now have breakfast all day,
and we're getting
brand new
cutlery tomorrow.
